11" Flower Holder
A very large, dramatic figurine-flower holder from Hedi Schoop, from the 1940s or early 1950s. This serene Chinese woman holds a large white fan with an open area for inserting flowers. She has a golden-tan skin tone, with a pinkish-brown gown heavily decorated with blue and white and brown flowers (on front and back). The incised lines in her hair, and the sweet expression on her face, make this a very charming piece of Hedi Schoop.
This tall piece measures 11 inches high, and 4 inches wide across the round foot.
It is in good condition. The only flaw I can see is a very small, shallow flake or chip on the upper corner of the fan (see closeup photos). There are no other chips, cracks, crazing, or wear.
The figurine is signed with what I think is an actual signature (not a stamp) in brown on the bottom:
