Jonroth Studios, Germany
Luster Souvenir Creamer / Pitcher
A very colorful souvenir creamer or pitcher featuring the "Victory Monument" in Yorktown, Virginia (where Cornwallis surrendered during the Revolutionary War in 1781). The piece has two marks. One is for The Jonroth Studios ("Hand Painted") in Germany, and the other is "Imported for J.S. De Neufville / Yorktown, Va."
The round body is decorated in a rich luster (lustre) finish, in shades of blue and pink with rainbow highlights. There is a design on the front of the monument, with a caption in a banner for "Victory Monument, Yorktown, Va. Erected to Commemorate the Victory of 1781." The design is encircled by gold trim, with additional gold around the rim and on the handle.
This very pretty piece measures 3.25 inches high at the spout tip, 2.75 inches wide across the foot ring, and 5 inches long from spout tip to the handle end. It is in good condition. There are two small chips at the foot (one front, one back, see closeup photos), and no cracks, crazing, or hairlines. It's a very beautiful piece of Jonroth.
