Wide Rimmed Bowl
Pink Flowers, Gold Trim
Schleiger 147-17, Blank 133
A very lovely large bowl made by Theodore Haviland, on a shape I think is Schleiger 147-17 (Blank 133), but I have not been able to identify the pattern. The bowl is decorated with delicate branches of pink flowers (I believe wild roses), with green leaves and pink stems; the elaborate embossed border has gold edges and daubs at the scalloped rim.
This bowl (I believe it would be used as a rimmed soup bowl) measure 9.5 inches wide. It is in fair to good condition. There is a little wear to the pink flowers on the rim, but no utensil marks or scratches. There is a very shallow chip at one tip of the edge (see closeup photos, with arrows; I tried to show it from different angles, but it is very difficult to see). There are no cracks or crazing.
The bottom is marked with a red mark for "Theodore Haviland / Limoges / France." I believe this is decorator's mark "q," which dating to ca. 1903. There is also an impressed "TH" in the shape of mark M (dated 1894-1957).
